We've migrated our changelog to Intercom.

Below you will find all the crucial updates we've shared in our previous changelog, feel free to contact us if you need more details.

[25 Nov 2023] Personalized data management with new settings

We have introduced destination-specific settings for each of your connected data pipelines, including Google Analytics 4, Segment, Facebook Conversions API, Pinterest, and TikTok. Your Littledata settings remain unchanged, but you can update them more easily now.

[30 Nov 2023] Order attribution boost

Starting 1st December you should see a significant increase in campaign attribution in Google Analytics and a reduction in Direct and Unassigned traffic in channel reports.

This is the benefit of a newly launched feature to boost attribution from untracked landing pages.

[6 Dec 2023] Littledata Assisted Revenue (LAR)

Assisted Revenue, tracked by Littledata, captures online sales missed by standard methods. Utilizing both client-side and server-side tracking, it outperforms Shopify's default tracking and other market tools, filling the gap between Shopify's total revenue and that recorded in platforms like Google Analytics GA4.

[31 Jan 2024] Littledata's Klaviyo connection is released in public beta

The integration works automatically for any site on Shopify or Shopify Plus, and is the first privacy-compliant solution for building bigger audiences around browsing behavior and checkout steps.

[28 Feb 2024] App name custom dimension

App Name is now automatically added during the connection's setup flow.

It is event-scoped, using the app_name parameter which can have 2 values:

  • the app name that generated the order (e.g. Recharge)
  • fallback on the app ID that generated the order (e.g. 133455); this occurs only when we don't match the app ID with the app name

[28 Feb 2024] Added the server-side Viewed Product event to our Klaviyo tracking plan

[12 Mar 2024] Support for Google Consent Mode v2

It is compatible with any banner using Shopify Customer Privacy API.

  • If the user opts out of marketing :then ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization consent parameters will be denied;
  • If the user opts out of analytics_storage :then analytics_storage consent parameter will be denied;

Google's Consent Mode v2 functionality is dependent on Littledata's User Tracking Consent setting (found in the Data Pipeline settings, under the top right settings section).

[13 Mar 2024] Support for Segment Consent Management

It is compatible with any banner using Shopify Customer Privacy API.

Segment's Consent Management functionality is dependent on Littledata's User Tracking Consent setting (found in the Data Pipeline settings, under the top right settings section).

[4 Apr 2024] Save 20% with annual plans!

We made it ridiculously easy for you to save money with your Littledata subscription! 💰

You can save 20% of the total amount by choosing an annual plan!

[4 Apr 2024] GA4 Onboarding checklist

Say hello to the Google Analytics 4 onboarding checklist! 🎉

We have introduced a list of 6 items that help you make the most out of Littledata's connection with Google Analytics 4.

The onboarding checklist is available once you complete the Google Analytics 4 connection.

[10 Apr 2024] Added the Checkout Started event to our Klaviyo tracking plan

Klaviyo's native Checkout Started event is triggered only after the user has entered his email address, resulting in a smaller audience size.

Littledata's Checkout Started event is triggered when the user arrives at the checkout page for the first time in that session.

By leveraging our identity resolution, we can identify the user on the very first checkout step.

You can read more details about using the event in your flows in this help article.

[10 May 2024] Amplitude session ID

We added the Amplitude session_id parameter on all our Segment events.

Amplitude's session_id is a useful metric for understanding the frequency and duration of your users' engagement with your product.

The session_id is automatically collected and added to all our Segment events, under the integrations object.

[18 Jun 2024] Klaviyo product collections

We further enhance our Klaviyo tracking schema by adding product collections in the event payload.

  • We renamed the Categories array inside the Checkout started event payload to Collections to match Klaviyo's native schema while for the rest of the events, the array is still called Categories.
  • All the event payloads sent to Klaviyo now have product collections and product types under the Categories / Collections arrays.

[20 Jun 2024] New Littledata dashboard

It's now easier to get an overview of your store's tracking with the new dashboard.

Under your store's name, you can find the current state of the tracking script which updates in real time. If there's a new version available, or the tracking script is missing, the state will be reflected there.

You can easily access the Littledata Assisted Revenue and Live Order Feed from the minimized versions present in the dashboard.

All the connections included in your plan are located at the bottom of the dashboard to give you an overview of your available data destinations.

[25 Jun 2024] Littledata's app embed

Littledata moved to an improved tracking method using Shopify's app embed blocks, allowing us to add tracking into the theme seamlessly improving marketing performance

This is an improvement on the previous script tag based solution which will be sunsetted in August 2025.

You can easily upgrade by logging in to the Littledata app and following the instructions that will prompt you to enable the app embed in the Shopify admin panel.

[9 Jul 2024] Google Ads enhanced conversions

Littledata's Shopify to Google Ads connection ensures 100% revenue tracking by sending the conversion directly to Google Ads from Shopify's servers.

With Enhanced Conversions, we significantly improve the accuracy of your Google Ads measurement, increasing observable data and improving the quality of conversion modeling.

[24 Jul 2024] Google Ads dynamic remarketing tags

We introduced 2 new events in our tracking schema:

  • view_item : triggered when a product page is viewed
  • view_item_list : triggered when a collections page is viewed

Both events contain dynamic remarketing parameters compatible with other Google products like Google Analytics, Display & Video 360, Search Ads 360, or Campaign manager.

Remarketing parameters:

  • google_business_vertical : necessary for remarketing tag, always set as "retail"
  • id : identifier of the item

[24 Jul 2024] Klaviyo checkout URL permalinks

Creating personalized checkout experiences for your abandoned cart email campaigns can enhance customer engagement and recovery rates.

Littledata adds a checkout_url permalink for the Added to Cart event, so you can direct customers back to the checkout with ease.

This uses a cart permalink and should work even when users click through into a new browser - when Klaviyo's checkout URL will not work.

[24 Jul 2024] TikTok event_id parameter

The event_id value inside the CompletePayment (purchase) event is now the Shopify resource ID of the respective order

e.g. 6051307165215

This way we are making sure that deduplication is done correctly on TikTok's side if another implementation sends CompletePayment events from the client-side.

❗️ In the case of CompletePayment events triggered by an upsell the event_id value will still have the old format

e.g. 6032289918573-416e223e11df6c77948ad4e4bac6f718

[29 Jul 2024] Littledata Assisted Revenue update

With Shopify's new checkout slowly rolling out publicly and removing tracking scripts access in the new thank you page, Littledata took action and changed the way Recovered Web Orders are tracked within Littledata Assisted Revenue (LAR).

Recovered Web Orders are now counted using Shopify's Web Pixel technology.

In your store's Admin panel (Settings > Customer events) you should see Littledata's App pixel as Connected.

If you're using Littledata through our Segment app, the App pixel name will be listed as Segment.

❗️ There is no action needed on your end to activate the App pixel, this was done programmatically.

[2 Aug 2024] Client-side purchase deprecation

The client-side purchase setting is now completely deprecated from the Littledata app.

What does this mean?

If the client-side purchase setting was turned on for your store, it means that:

  • The purchases sent to Google Analytics 4 will be solely from the server.

We are currently exploring a different approach for this feature.

[22 Aug 2024] Payment Gateway custom dimension

[GA4] We've reintroduced the payment_gateway_ld parameter that populates the Payment Gateway custom dimension in your Google Analytics 4 property.

[Segment] The payment_gateway_littledata parameter was added to the order payloads sent to Segment.
